Abstract: The human gut microbiota has crucial effects on our health and perturbation of the gut microbiome is linked to many human diseases. Within the gut, the highly acidic stomach is an extremely hostile ecological niche for most microbes. The human gastric pathogen, Helicobacter pylori, is the prominent member of the human gastric microbiota.
