Dr. Cathy Huaqing Qi is a professor in Special Education at the University of New Mexico (UNM). She received her doctorate in Early Childhood Special Education from Vanderbilt University. She has published numerous papers on issues related to language and behavior assessments. In 2009, Dr. Huaqing Qi was recognized as Diversity Champion from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association for advancing multicultural issues in communication sciences and disorders. For the past 16 years, she has been principal investigator of three federally funded research projects. Dr. Huaqing Qi research interests includes examining the relationships between language skills and behavior functioning in preschool children from low-income families. Her other research interests include evidence-based interventions for students with autism spectrum disorders.
